11 Fitness: Fitness trainer Doug Popst’s tips for staying healthy

DEVELOPING THURSDAY AND FRIDAY JENNIFER: TIME FOR 11 FITNESS. JOINING US, PERSONAL TRAINER DOUG BOPST. IF YOU’RE AN INSTAGRAM, YOU SEE MEMES SAYING SUMMER BODIES ARE MADE IN THE WINTER. >> IT’S SO TRUE, JENNIFER. THE FUNNY ING IS THIS TIME OF YEAR, SO MANY PEOPLE QUIT. I CANNOT EMPHASIZE ENOUGH PEOPLE NEED TO KEEP GOING. ONE OF THE REASONS I THINK PEOPLE STOP, IT GETS HARD MAYBE THEIR BODY ACHES AFTER WORKOUTS. ALL I CAN TELL PEOPLE, IF YOU KEEP MOVING, EAT RIGHT, STAY HYDRATED, SLEEP WELL. THE RESULTS WILL COME. JENNIFER: IT’S HARD TO DO WHEN YOU’RE HUNKERED DOWN IN THE WINTER. YOU HAVE SNOW ON THE WAY. MAYBE YOU DON’T HAVE A TREADMILL AND YOU’RE WORRIED ABOUT SLIPPING. YOU HAVE TIPS FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE WORKING OUT AT HOME >> I DO. I’M NOT SPEAKING TO THE PEOPLE ALREADY WORKING OUT. I’M TALKING TO PEOPLE TRYING TO GET MOVING. SET A TIMER FOR TEN MINUTES. PICK TWO EXERCISES. AN UPPER BODY AND LOWER BODY. PICK SQUATS AND PUSH-UPS AND DO 10 TO 15 TO 20 BASED ON YOUR FITNESS LEVEL AND GO BACK TO BACK AS MANY TIMES AS YOU CAN FOR THE TEN MINUTES. I GUARANTEE YOU’LL FEEL BETTER. WITH PEOPLE HUNK ERED DOWN, YOU CAN DO THAT ONCE, TWICE, THREE TIMES A DAY. JENNIFER: TALK ABOUT THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MOTIVATION AND CONSISTENCY. >> SO MOTIVATION AND SKAS TENCY. IT’S EASY TO GET MOTIVATED FOR A D DAY, RIGHT? IT’S EASY TO GO OUT AND WORK OUT FOR TWO OR THREE HOURS A DAY AND STOP. THE BEST RESULTS ARE FROM BEING CONSISTENT. YOU CAN WORK OUT 30 MINUTES A DAY, FIVE DAYS A WEEK, YOU’LL DO BETTER THAN THE PERSON MOTIVATED TO WORK OUT ONCE OR TWICE A MONTH FOR AN HOUR 0 OR TWO. ONCE YOU’RE MOTIVATED, THE HARD THING IS BEING CONSISTENT WHEN THINGS GET CHALLENGING, WHEN THE SCALE DOESN’T MOVE, WHEN YOU DON’T FEEL LIKE EXERCISING, WHEN SOMEONE IS TELLING YOU TO GO OUT AND PARTY WHEN YOU WANT TO BE AT THE GYM. THAT’S WHERE IT TAKES SACRIFICE, DEDICATION, AND PERSISTENCE TO BE CONSISTENT TO CREATE SOME STABILITY IN YOUR LIFE AND, IN TURN, YOU’LL SEE RESULTS. JENNIFER: GOOD POINT. YOU ALSO HAVE A NEW PARTNERSHIP WITH PLANT BAR IN TOWSON. TELL US ABOUT THAT. >> IT’S FUNNY, DANIELLE TROY IS A FRIEND OF MINE. SHE OWNS PLANT BAR. SHE SAID LET’S PARTNER UP. AND I SAID, WE SHOULD DO A BOPST BOWL. LISTEN, MCDONALD’S HAS AT BIG MAC, BURGER KING HAS THE WHOP PER. IT BECAME A SERIOUS THING. WE WANT PEOPLE TO BECOME HEALTHIER AND CONSISTENT AND GIVE BACK TO SMALL BUSINESSES. SO WE CREATED A BOWL. IT’S GOT ON AVOCADO BASE, IT’S BOT BANANA, MC OIL. HOMEMADE ALMOND BUTTER AND BEE POLLEN. IT ALMOST TASTES LIKE CHOCOLATE ICE CREAM. GET IT AT THE PLANT BAR LOCATION IN TOWSON. WE SAID LET’S HELP SMALL BUSINESSES ALONG THE WAY. WE LOVED WHAT BAR STOOL SPORTS IS DOING WITH THE FUND. FOR EVERY BOPST BOWL SOLD, A DOLLAR WILL GO TO HELP SMALL BUSINESSES. JENNIFER: PLANT BAR IN TOWSON, PEOPLE CAN FIND OUT MORE ON THE WEBSITE. >> I POSTED IT ON INSTAGRAM AND DANIELLE HAS POSTED IT ON PLANT BAR FACEBOOK PAGE. PEOPLE ARE LOVING IT BECAUSE IT’S HEALTHY AND AT THE SAME TIME, IT’S GO THE THAT SWEET KICK TO IT AS WELL. JENNIFER: DOUG, THANKS FOR CHECKING IN. APPREC
